Summary
During the second year of university we had a term during which we had 3 short game projects. For one of these game marmalades we were tasked to come up with a game for the theme “Cognitive Dissonance” during which I was a product owner.
The resulting game was a city management game with an event system in which the player played a mayor of a city during the ’30s-‘60s and that they would have to balance their monetary balance as well as the happiness of the city.
The cognitive dissonance came into play through options that weren’t initially good for the happiness of the city (like making deals with the mafia) or for the city’s bank balance, but that could eventually become the stepping stone for something great. A city event system would be put into place to keep players on their toes and to add some extra life to the city.
